Let me just say that even if this little cutter was only half as good as it looks, I would still rate it excellent just for its design. However, it really is just as good as it looks! Maybe better. It's comfortable to use. I can't tell you how how many x-acto knives I've used that have left me with cramped and ultimately bruised fingers. The functionality is kick-***. Here's what I did as soon as my Precision Cutter arrived: I opened it. I didn't need to use it but I had to try it anyway, much like you have to use a new pen to write something (I once wrote a whole short story with a new pen). So I cut out intricate pictures of jewelry from a magazine, and that sharp little ceramic blade manipulated the intricacies just beautifully! Next I cut out different words from articles and letters from various headlines. This little task can be quite trying with regular blades, especially if they are the least bit dull. The Precision Cutter sliced through the thin magazine paper like buttah! So then, guess what I did next? I ordered the Ceramic Blade Craft Knife and the Precision Scissors because I am so curious about its funky design. I can't wait to use it!

More About the Slice Precision Cutter

What is a Precision Knife Used For?

A precision knife is often used in the craft and hobby world as a precision paper cutter. Its profile is similar to that of a pen, and it’s therefore easy to manipulate for detailed cuts. Industrial uses include trimming vinyl, thin plastics, and circuit boards.

How Do I Use a Precision Knife Safely?

As with all precision cutters you should use caution. Although large, deep lacerations are less likely with a precision tool than with something like a box cutter, puncture wounds and cuts to the fingers can occur. Slice has used design best practices to reduce the chance of injuries. These include minimizing the exposed blade, creating a comfortable non-slip grip, and developing a finger-friendly edge.

One way to ensure your safety is to always use the right tool for the job. While Slice makes a craft knife for cutting thicker material, we recommend a micro-ceramic blade for thin materials, such as thin paper, plastic film, and thin styrene.

What is Unique About the Slice Precision Cutter?

Although many people use craft knives to cut paper, this approach exposes more blade than is needed to get the job done, which is a safety hazard. Slice created a fixed micro blade to reduce exposure of the cutting surface while providing a strong, immovable blade. As with all Slice safety ceramics, the finger-friendly ceramic blade gives users a safer alternative to dangerous steel.

Beyond safety, the Precision Cutter features an elegant profile, created by renowned designer Karim Rashid. As with all good design, the Precision Cutter integrates beauty, functionality, and innovation into a deceptively simple tool. Users fall in love with this unique tool when they feel the control of its smooth non-slip grip and fixed blade.
