FAQ

What Makes the Large Scissors Special?

Slice’s large scissors are specifically designed for user comfort, with a soft-touch inner lining and a lightweight but durable handle. As with all Slice® tools, they offer a finger-friendly® safety grind that cuts materials effectively but is safer than traditional blades when it comes to skin lacerations. The advanced ceramic material we use is also non-sparking and non-conductive, making it handy for work with electrical wire. Because zirconium oxide (the blade material we use) is chemically inert, it’s also easy to clean and will never rust. Add to that the tool’s elegant design and longer-lasting blade, and the 10545 scissors are destined to be a favorite around the workplace, craft room, or home workshop.

What Other Scissor Styles Does Slice Make?

Slice makes a whole line of safer scissors, which includes the 10544 Small Scissors and the 10546 Small Pointed Scissors. Both feature a finger-friendly blade, and both are popular with teachers and crafters, as well as in industrial settings. The rounded-tip 10544 scissors also have a following with people who have fine motor skill challenges, as the scissors’ safer tips and blades reduce the potential for injury.

What Does “Finger Friendly” Mean?

Finger-friendly is our way of describing the proprietary Slice grind. This is the hand-sharpened edge of our blades, which features two grind angles. The result is a much smaller initial cutting zone, which cuts materials effectively while minimizing skin lacerations. While our blades can cut skin, this requires a lot of effort. Slice is the first company to develop this safety blade technology.

What Can the 10545 Large Scissors Cut?

Our large scissors can handle any materials that typical scissors cut: card stock, paper, fabric, yarn, vinyl, and felt, for example. In addition, they’re non-conductive and non-sparking, making them ideal for work with electrical wire. And because the blades are easy to clean, they can be sterilized for work in laboratories.
